Midland Hotel, Morecambe.

I remember standing with my Mum and waiting for someone famous to come out of the Midland Hotel. I think it would be circa 1964-5.
Crowds were waiting so Mum said we should too. lol After a little wait, out came Roger Moore. My Mum quite fancied him. (Is he a Sir now?)

I bet a lot of famous people stayed there.

Anyway we were all a lot younger then, the Midland fell into a right mess.

June the 1st it re opened, it looks great. We had a quick peep inside. The view from the back is lovely and watching the sunset over the Bay will be gorgeous.

Youtube .......... type in Morecambe and go for it!!!

Digital Camera.

6647caad94b196bdbabbe20a33a08467.jpg

I have had about 3 digital cameras. No, sorry, make that 4. The first one was so small, (not in size but pixels and stuff.)

When I have filled my memory card and sometimes, even before, I put all my photos on a cd. I think for the last 3 cameras I have bought another memory card. One I bought in San Francisco, (showing off.)

I took some pics of my boy's wedding. Put them on CD and cannot access them. I can actually see where they have been "burned" on the disc. Luckily, we have heaps of photos from that day.

I am just so relieved that I didn't just rely on my digital camera. I think it was my fault I "lost" the photos.

I still look at cameras in the bumf they send us with the Sunday papers. PCWotsit advertise a good one, 10 optical zoom. Money off too. I suppose I would have to buy more memory and that could cost a small fortune. Dream on. X

Robert W. Service.

I had never heard of Robert Service until an e-mail friend told me he had lived in Preston, UK. (Robert, not my friend.) Preston not being very far from where we live.

He was a writer and a poet. Born in Scotland and went to live in Canada at the age of 21.

He wrote about the things he observed. He died in 1958. September 11th. He would have been about 84.

Marty Wilde and Laura Ingalls-Wilder and Youtube.

Last night himdownstairs and me went to see Marty Wilde and the Wildcats. Took us back to our youth.

Marty was wonderful. I wonder how old he is now? Bet he has his bus pass! But the energy of the man. He has been going for over 50 years would you believe? I am sure the Wildcats are all younger than that. If you are too young to remember him, maybe you remember his daughter, Kim. If you don't remember her, there is no hope for you. lol The audience were not young, there were of course some young people. But I bet the majority remembers Marty when he was on "The Six Five Special." I kinda missed that, I was more into "Oh Boy."

When son was here he was watching Youtube.  www.youtube.com I keep looking at it and watching some of my favourite singers. But looked up, "Little House on the Prairie." I loved that programme and believe it or not, it still makes me cry. I even found the first episode ever and that lasted 30 odd mins. Good stuff. "The Waltons" here I come.

So Elder Son of mine. Thank you. I suppose you all realise that it takes me much longer than other people to cotton on to things? I maybe slow but in the end, I get there.  lol

Memories.

86c9fc43e53bf2a2adb033a3f9b7d2ed.jpgDad had a motorbike and sidecar. We must have travelled miles in it. (The sidecar I mean.)

Yesterday, in Morecambe there it was. Not the same one but it brought back memories. Sister and I, me in the front and her in the back, Mum on the pillion.

Also, it was the Bradford to Morecambe Vintage Car Rally. On the prom there were cars of all ages.

Gosh, some of them brought back memories too. That Ford Anglia, as seen in "Heartbeat," well it looked quite small now. But when my elder son was a baby, we thought it was the bees knees.

Then a plane flew over the bay, looked like an old plane. I tried hard to catch it on photo as the thing was going so fast! Anyway, this is one of the snaps I got.

Punk Festival. Morecambe.

Most years, there has been a Punk Festival in Morecambe. Punks from all over the world come to Morecambe. Not this year though.

I will miss them, they are so colourful, cheerful and nice. They didn't cause a lot of trouble either. Suppose there would be the exceptions. The weather wasn't always kind to them but this is England.

Another Bit of Humour. Keep Fit!

Sent to me by my American Pen Pal.

Diary:
For my seventieth birthday this year, my wife (the
dear) purchased a week of personal training at the
local health club for me.
Although I am still in great shape since competing on
my college gymnastics team over 50 yrs ago, I decided it
would be a good idea to go ahead and give it a try.
I called the club and made my reservation with a
personal trainer named Belinda, who identified
herself as a 26 yr. old aerobics instructor and
model for athletic clothing and swimwear.
My wife seemed pleased with my enthusiasm to get
started! The club encouraged me to keep a diary to
chart my progress.
MONDAY:
Started my day at 6:00 am.
Tough to get out of bed, but it was well worth it
when I arrived at the health club to find Belinda
waiting for me. She was something of a Greek goddess
with blonde hair, dancing eyes and a dazzling white
smile.
Woo Hoo!!!!!
She took my pulse after 5 minutes on the treadmill.
She was alarmed that my pulse was so fast, but I
attributed it to standing next to her in her Lycra
aerobics outfit. I enjoyed watching the skilful way
in which she conducted her aerobics class after my
workout today.
Very inspiring, Belinda was encouraging as I did my
sit-ups, although my gut was
already aching from
holding it in the whole time she was around. This is
going to be a FANTASTIC week!!
TUESDAY:
I drank a whole pot of coffee, but I finally made it
out the door. Belinda made me lie on my back and
push a heavy iron bar into the air, and then she put
weights on it! My legs were a little wobbly on the
treadmill, but I made the full mile. Belinda's
rewarding smile made it all worthwhile.
I feel GREAT!! It's a whole new life for me.
WEDNESDAY:
The only way I can brush my teeth is by laying the
toothbrush on the counter and moving my mouth back
and forth over it. I believe I have a hernia in both
pectorals. Driving was OK as long as I didn't try to
steer or stop. I parked on top of a GEO in the club
parking lot. Belinda was impatient with me,
insisting that my screams bothered the other club
members. Her voice is a little too perky for early
in the morning and when she scolds, she gets this
nasally whines that is VERY annoying.
My chest hurts when I got on the treadmill, so
Belinda put me on the stair monster. Why the hell
would anyone invent a machine to simulate an
activity rendered obsolete by elevators? Belinda
told me it would help me get in shape and enjoy
life. She said some other stuff too.
THURSDAY:
Belinda was waiting for me with her vampire-like
teeth exposed as her thin, cruel lips were pulled
back in a full snarl I couldn't help being a half an
hour late; it took me that long to tie my shoes.
Belinda took me to workout with dumbbells. When she
was not looking, I ran and hid in the men's room.
She sent Lars to find me, then, as punishment, put
me on the rowing machine-which I sank.
FRIDAY:
I hate that bitch Belinda more than any human being
has ever hated any other human being in the history
of the world. Stupid, skinny, anaemic little
cheerleading bitch. If there were a part of my body
could move without unbearable pain, I would beat her
with it. Belinda wanted me to work on my triceps. I
don't have any triceps! And if you don't want dents
in the floor, don't hand me the*&%#(#&** barbells or
anything that weighs more than a sandwich.
The treadmill flung me off and I landed on a health
and nutrition teacher. Why couldn't it have been
someone softer, like the drama coach or the choir
director?
SATURDAY:
Belinda left a message on my answering machine in
her grating, shrilly voice wondering why I did not
show up today. Just hearing her made me want to
smash the machine with my planner. However, I lacked
the strength to even use the TV remote and ended up
catching eleven straight hours of the Weather
Channel.

SUNDAY:
I'm having the Church van pick me up                                                                                                                   for services
today so I can go and thank GOD that this week is
over. I will also pray that next year, my wife (the
witch); will choose a gift for me that is fun --like
a root canal or a vasectomy!!

Books, films and hobbies.

Two of my favourite films are.... E.T. and Forrest Gump. Although I like anything with Tom Hanks in it. Always like to watch Grease now and then. Gone With The Wind and the original Goodbye Mr Chips.
Well, what can you expect from someone who used to watch Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons?
Books, anything fictional about WW2. The stories make you wonder how people managed. Air raid sirens, gas masks, rationing, evacuating their children. And of course, all the deaths of soldiers, airmen, sailors and civilians. The brave acts of the Fire Watchers, ambulance, doctors and nurses. A home being there one minute and gone the next. I am sure that I have missed a lot of people out! Apologies. Used to like love stories too. Not any more. I enjoy a good autobiograhy too.
Hobbies. Computer! digital pix, reading and knitting. I must admit, haven't done any knitting either by hand or with the machine since I got the computer! May try this winter. Also enjoy walking in the Lake District with my sister. Only small walks though. Not much climbing!
