Here I go, not well again. Now got pins and needles in my fingers. (Left hand.) My pulse is ok, my fingers are not cold, feel a bit of a numb sensation on little finger at times. I think I have a trapped nerve somewhere.

But then I made the mistake of looking it up on the Internet. Now I have all sorts of diseases known to man and women.
Not found a fatal one yet so I think I will stop while I am ahead. If it doesn't clear up soon I shall go and annoy my GP.

By the way, I have not had a cig for more than five and a half months, approx. Last one on 30th Sept 2007. Just had to throw that in. lol I just found out this morning it is No Smoking Day today.
(Up 11p a packet of 20 in todays Budget.)
And is it because I have stopped and don't have to be made to feel guilty that No Smoking Day was not noticed by me???
I couldn't have made it this far without http://www.stayquit.co.uk and NRT but will power is needed too.

Aches and pains. I do think it is time I retired now. Sixty four very soon and patients seem to be getting heavier. Not only that, they expect the nurse to lift them. Now we aren't supposed to lift. if we hurt ourself it is our own fault. But try telling that to someone who is very confused!!!

Maybe I am getting confused too. It's my age you know. lol.

Take care and I am still NOT smoking.
I'm not far off 64. Woe is me. As I gave up the cigs on the 30th Sept 2007 I expected to be, well, kind of reborn. I knew that I wouldn't be turning cartwheels, wasn't good at that when I was very, very young.

But up pops my hypochondria. Pains in places I never had before. Nothing to do with working and sitting in a different position when on the computer. Oh no, nothing that simple. It's not even my age. It's much worse than that.

Not that is has been confirmed by a doctor. (I must go to see my Asthma Nurse soon as I am a little overdue.) I just hope she marvels at the new improved me. Will be upset if she isn't.

This stopping smoking is still hard but a lot easier than it was. Sounds silly that and what I mean is it is easier in one way but I get niggling thoughts. I suppose in the grand scheme of things, the thoughts are manageable.

Treating you to a pic of my sister's birthday cake. She is younger than me. lol

Don't get me wrong, I still have bouts. It's the turn of the "younger" generation now. Not the teenagers but the forty year old or so people.

My aches and pains are real now. My hip hurts, usually after I have been to work. I get cramp a lot. My tum still acts up but at least they are real things.

Maybe now I am older my imagination isn't as good or maybe I think if I worry about imaginary illnesses, I might really get them.

Still battling on with the trying to stop smoking. I will beat it! Oh yes.

Have a good week everyone please.

Don't laugh, but him downstairs has sciatica! Very painful I know.
I had it last year, at least I think I did. Sounds the same as it describes it in my book. It did wear off. But limped about at work all Easter. The usual symptoms are pain along the sciatic nerve. Pain can be felt in your back, down the back of the thigh and to the ankle. It makes you walk with a limp, so that makes other bits of you, ache. Commonly due to pressure on a nerve, maybe by a prolapsed intervertebral disc. Have just read, that it should have investigation. Getting him downstairs to a doctor is a work of art. I have a little feeling he won't go. So it's painkillers for him.

Just looked in our cupboard. It's a virtual chemist shop. I am sure every hypochondrics cupboards may be the same! Some things are from Herbal Shops, some not. I should have a root round and see if any are past their sell-by date.

Now I am semi-semi retired I will have more time to indulge myself with imagined ailments. But I don't want to do this. I want to feel full of energy and therefore, full of life.

Today, it is raining, so left knee twinges a bit. Is it my imagination? No, it is sore. Left shoulder aches a bit too. Arthritis, the position I sit in or maybe slept in last night?
On dry days, it's the right knee that can ache a little. Should I take asprin? Apparently, anti inflammatory pills don't seem to go well if on asthma inhalers.

I sometimes take a paracetamol or two at bedtime. I daren't take them on a regular basis say every four hours. Too many painkillers could cause constipation, then I would have yet another thing to worry about.

I write this in a light way. But hypochondria can be really horrible for some. Real pain, real worries and must be hell to live with.

I find if I read them, I get a lot of the side effects. So, maybe very silly of me, I don't read them.

Today, I have decided that I might becoming arthritic. Well, not just today, it's been a while. I will see the doctor one day.

I remember having shingles, yes I can laugh about it now but not at the time. Nursing used to involve a lot of lifting. I was in pain, thought I had strained myself. It got much worse, decided I had broken a rib. Then, I decided I had lung cancer. It was really painful. To know how painful it is, you have to experience it. I'd rather you didn't though. Mine was on my body. I really feel so sorry for those poor souls that get it on the face and or eye. A bit like neuralgia is should think. Now, that is very painful too!

These two things I have actually had, not imagined at all. But plenty of other things I seem to have suffered, cleared up with out medical intervention. Luckily for my GP, I don't visit every time I suffer. Oh yes, my doc doesn't realise how lucky he is!

Oh, how I suffer! Luckily, I imagine most of my ailments. But I have, in the past, suffered from all kinds of things, some that even the doctors haven't heard of. Being a nurse, I should know better.

If you are the same, please send me your stories. I will publish them on here. Names will be kept secret! I promise.

Let us all have some fun.

bumblebees321@btinternet.com
