TV. Update 28th April.

00978066e353f49da48d3d4067c7b50b.jpgRight, I have noticed that Frances is missing from the series of Casualty.
At first I thought she was maybe on holiday. After all the poor lass worked nearly every shift going. But since Mr / Dr Harry Harper left, no sign of her.

I have never heard her speak, But that girl knew her job. She worked quietly and efficiently.
I liked Frances, but I am worried about her. Anyone else missed someone from a soap???
Maybe it's just me who is so sad eh???

I am still not smoking and it will be 7 months next Sunday. Even I am quite impressed! lol

I am sure I saw Frances on Saturday 26th. Lol I wonder if she is back due to my popular request???

Somewhere in America.

I have gone on about the heavy winds, maybe in my other blog, not sure now.
We have had one lot of snow / hail here. It lasted all of one afternoon. I was not happy as I hate snow unless it is.........

A/ On a photo.
B/ On a Christmas card.
C/ Where it should be, eg, Switzerland.

Anyway, my point is that it could be a lot worse. We have been quite lucky where we live. Seen on TV the floods caused by the high tides. Not long ago our son was woken up by an earthquake. He doesn't live here though. But does live in England.

My friend in America sent me this photo, (and some others,) thank goodness I don't have to put up with something like this. It looks lovely but........................................

Mothers Day.

In our country, today has been Mothering Sunday. It seems early this year as does Easter.

I believe than none of us here today will see Easter this early again. I meant to save an email someone sent me.
I think it will be as early as this in 200 and odd years, If you were born after 1913 Easter will have never been this early.

Too much info for my aged brain to work out.

Bored.

The weather remains foul, I should expect it at this time of the year I suppose.

Nothing of interest for me on TV. Never mind, got my 'puter and a few good books. I will survive. Hope you all have a good week. Please do.

I shall bore you with a few of my pics.

San Francisco.

As sister and I were driving past Danielle Steele's house one day in June 2006, (yes, you read that right.) I would love to say that we had been invited in for a cuppa. But I can't lie.
Actually, we were on top of an open top bus after going over The Golden Gate Bridge. We also passed the home or maybe now, ex home of Clint Eastwood too. Not often I can name drop. Unfortunately, neither of them were spotted. Even if they had been pottering about in their front gardens, they would have been very well "hidden."
This happened in June. Happy days.

UPDATE. Where are you??? Old friends.

WANTED!

I have said before, I have lost a few e-mail friends in the past. I would like to get in touch with Okiemamma... Sue, Mary-Jo from Dallas, Doreen in Canada.  Karen and Kevin and their children in Australia. And everyone else I have lost touch with. I used to be,

mrsdanne@btinternet.com  now I am, enanne22@talktalk.net

I live in Lancaster, am a retired nurse. Does that bit of information ring any bells? I do hope so.

Again, I put out a plea for Glenda who used to live in Morecambe and was / is a friend of Sheila. She is somewhere out there in the USA.
I also would just love to get in touch with David and Peter. They are my cousins. David married Nicola and maybe now in Canada. Don't know where Peter is though.
Their parents were Mary and Harry. Remember your holidays in Heysham?

I hope I get some feedback from this Blog. It would be great!

Blooming Heck.

Golly gosh. Time is passing really fast now.

67th day without a cig, still think of them and sometimes could really smoke one. I don't want to though, it would be such a waste. I know from experience that I would maybe enjoy it, (first one anyway,) then I would do my, "What the hell?" bit. Then I would wish I hadn't had that one as by now I would have finished the packet of 10 I got. Then I would have to start all over again. Or worse still, go and buy another packet. Ahhhhhhhhhh.

Soon be Christmas. Soon be the holidays. Depends on what you believe. So soon be Christmas. Shops seem to get busier now. Weekends are very busy and it 's to be expected.

Monday night on TV.

I love Monday nights on TV at the moment. Ok, ok, I have admitted to being sad many a time. lol

Tonight, we start with Emmerdale, then on to Corrie, what will the devil David get up to this time? Then a quick switch over to Eastenders. Then back to Corrie.

I cheer the goodies and boo the baddies. Max, just leave Stacey alone you rat. Sean/Shaun, keep your nose out of it please. Eileen and Gail, wonderful................ Will Norris ask that Doreen to marry him? Where are Ken and Deidre?

Quick break for making a light supper and then it's the wonderful Martin Clunes in Doc Martin. I love everyone in that programme. I must tell you all now, Monday night is hard going for me, all this tv watching but I manage ok. But they do keep my mind off the cigs. A month now and still getting craves. Fed up with them. Ahh well. ae0e041cef200d23fe48a685e1d7f9b4.jpg

Had my 'flu jab today. Hope all you ladies and gents over 65 have booked theirs? People with asthma and COPD and such, go on, it didn't hurt. a6b39ec81cd16a3345eda09f79214f2d.jpg

Cartoons. News. Lost son. Or is he? Update.

Oh dear, when they stopped printing the Garfield cartoon in the paper I was upset. I love that cat. Thank you Jim Davis. (I think.) But now I am quite fond of Calvin and Hobbs. In fact, getting very fond of them indeed.

Pleased to hear Russell is on the mend after his op. I am sure many of us are thinking about him and wishing him the best.

I'm sure that we are thinking about the poor Californians too. Golly, it must be devastating and frightening. I whinge about our English weather and I know about the floods in summer, but here, where we live, we are quite lucky. 951eea385e98fce8be8a2a56ef5439aa.jpg

Maddy, well bless her, no nearer are they? That must be a nightmare. Ok, no "must be," it is a nightmare.

Just got this from a pen friend. Another lost person. Can you help?               Thank you.

7af90e6a452f5e3f8fe6615db573bca4.jpgMy 15 year old boy, Evan Trembley, is missing.
He has been missing now for two weeks.

Maybe if everyone passes  this on, someone will see this child.
That is how the girl from Stevens  Point was found by circulation
of her picture on tv. The internet  circulates even overseas,
South America , and Canada etc.
Please pass  this to everyone in your address book.
With GOD on his side he will be  found.

'I am asking you all, begging you to please
forward this  email on to anyone and everyone
you know, PLEASE.

It is still  not too late. Please help us. If anyone
knows anything, please contact  me at:

HelpfindEvanTrembley@yahoocom
I am including a  picture of him.

All prayers are appreciated! ! '

It only  takes 2 seconds to forward this.

If it was your child, you would  want all the help you could get!!

In fact there are a lot of horrible stories in the news lately. I do hope something nice happens to cheer us all up.

Day 27 and not one cig. Oh yes, I could nicely smoke one right now but not going to. If I keep this up and let me say, I really want to, what on earth can I have as my New Year's resolution? (It's rapidly on its way.)

November 7th 2007.

I now leave it up to you, is it true or not? Since I wrote that  another e mail arrived, NOT from the same person.

"This is a hoax that has been circulating around USA since this spring. Go to Snopes.com to verify anything that smells of phony."

Apparently, it is a hoax. Why? For what reason? Am I missing something? Apologies, just trying to help.

Strange but.....Pleasanton. Ca

Quite strange, or is it? No answer or anything from my half-brother Vic. I wrote him a letter on this site a little while ago. I wondered if anyone might have read it put two and two together and replied. No, perhaps no one has, perhaps they have and think tough, keep out of my life!

Ok, I can live with that. I still think it was worth a try. Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that. Shame though.

Pleasanton. Anyone know that place? Sounds nice but is it? It looks a pleasant place from the pics I have seen on the Internet.

Emeryville.

Emeryville.

Now, I notice you have visited this site once or twice. Wonder if it is by mistake or if you like that Helicopter game? Not played that for ages. Used to drive me mad. Never got a good score.

Is Emeryville near San Francisco? I went there last year and would go again tomorrow if I had the chance. It's a wonderful place.

We stayed near Pier 39. Seals, seafood and such. We live near the seaside here, so not overstruck on seafood. Those lobsters were waving at me but how could I eat one when they were so friendly?

We also had good weather, it was June when we went. I must say, it was a trip of a lifetime.

Well, here I am!

Lovely, I have got back on here after a long time. Thank you Arnaud. I had long lost my password.

Update.

Well, where to begin? Hope you are all doing well?

I am now 63 and a half. I have been trying to give up the cigs since October the 21st 2006. Tried all sorts and now on day 4 of Champix. Fingers crossed.

Elder son hit forty in April, granddaughter 16 in July. We are at the moment waiting for a call from her about her exam results!

I still work everynow and then. Aches and pains seem to be getting worse though. Keep saying I will stop altogether but I only do two late shifts still and not as often as I used to.

Notice I have had a few visits from Emeryville. CA. I was in San Francisco last June, anywhere near there? Really enjoyed it too. Would go tomorrow if I could.

Take care everyone.

It's on again! Footie!

Yes, I've got the blues!!! Just watched Mike on Corrie being taken into hospital. Ok, I know it's just a programme. But I have seen the same thing happen, over and over.
Anyway, him downstairs is watching footie.  Keeps him off the streets I suppose. He tells me it will be all finished in May. But didn't mention the "Friendlies." But I know, have lived through years of it. Then it will be cricket. Somehow, it always seems to rain when Yorkshire & Lancashire play. I don't suppose it does every time but according to him downstairs it does. I suppose that I only know when he complains about it.
Not to worry, I have my computer! Have downloaded a great, annoying and time wasting, Space Invader game. Pacman too but I am even more useless on that. A few other games too. I have also found a way to transfer my audio song tapes to CD. We have such a lot of tapes. So it will take a while to do them all. Might just do the ones I like the most. Then, there is a way to do our old LPs. Trouble is, as soon as I sussed it out, I gave up! Still trying my sewing. Have made a top and now on my second one. Trust me, I won't be wearing them for best! They will look better under a cardigan.

No work until Saturday, I thought it was Sunday, I must be getting old.

Nothin' in particular! Hypochondria. Sewing Machine.

A calm colour. I need calm. Footie on TV, I need a cigarette but can't have one yet. As I am cutting down. I know, I know, I should give up totally..... go cold turkey.... just stop. Well, my willpower is not that good. I have been on the cigarettes since I was about 18 or 19. I am 62 now, so that's about 44 years. My poor lungs. But it's my own fault. Just pleased that I haven't been drinking alcohol on a daily basis, for 44 years.

Worked a late shift last night. It was very busy but good. Not going back until Sunday now. I have decided that 2 shifts a week is enough for me now. I think patients think they are in a hotel sometimes. Bless them, the food isn't up to much they say. I think they think the nurses make it. The food is very good but possibly, not to everyones taste.

I wonder if I AM getting arthritis? A quick visit to the doc's and then I could have a blood test and know for sure. But if I do, will I deteriorate????
Once I have something like that, in my mind, it does tend to make the symptoms "feel" a lot worse.

The sewing machine, well, me and it aren't getting on that well. I blame myself. Went into town today, only one shop that sells material. ONE! I mean..............
I could find shops that sell curtain material but even with my sewing skills, who wants to walk about in summer, in curtain material??? lol

Humour.

Dear Sirs,

I have just received the AIDS leaflet through my door, and would like to apply straight away for AIDS.

I have been on the dole for the past ten years and have been living on supplementary benefit and every other state aid I could get. It now seems I will be getting aid for sex. It's a pity this AIDS has come so late as I have already got 15 children and wondered if you will be paying back payments.

Your leaflet states that the more sex I have the more chances I have of getting AIDS. My only problem here is persuading the wife, who is not so keen after 15 kids. Several years ago I bought some sex aids but she showed little interest and they were hardly used. Would there be any chance of a refund for the £17.50 I paid for these gadgets?

Anyway, I will now explain to her that the government will now be paying us for all the sex we have and I'm sure she will agree that we can't let a chance like this slip by.

You also state that I can pass my AIDS on, but as you will understand with a wife and 15 kids to feed there won’t be much left to pass on. If by any chance there is a bit left though I will pass this on to my poor old mother-in-law who has only got her pension.

I understand from your leaflet that I can get AIDS through a blood transfusion and I intend to write to my local hospital straight away to see when I can have one. Will the AIDS I get from the hospital be deducted from the AIDS I get from you? Perhaps you will write and let

me know.

I am a firm believer in getting every aid from the country I can get and I'm sure you'll agree that by my past performance I do qualify for this one.

Could you let me know how much I will get paid each time, and will it be weekly or monthly payments?

Yours truly,

Mr. A. Idiot

P.S. Your advert is great, I certainly won’t die of ignorance, I know my rights.

Porn!!!! Work.

Goodness me, somebody sent me a comment, when I clicked on it, it seemed a bit pornish. I am not a prude, but don't like the thought of you thinking I am "condoning " rude things. lol I have removed the comment. Anyone else having this problem? Some comments lead to kind of advertising. I don't mind, but just to let you know that they are nothing to do with me at all. Anything I think is not good will be removed. I have reported the porn one to Blogspirit.com
It may not be too bad but I don't want it on my site thank you. I didn't really go into it THAT much.

I worked from 1 pm until 9 pm tonight. Longest stretch I have done for a while. I did say I was finishing work, but I keep being asked to cover for sickness, so what can you say??? Someone has to help look after the old loves. It will be nearly time for someone to look after me!

Rudness! And other things.

I have got over last night now. I must say, not only nurses get rudeness from the public, shop assistants, police and everyone, working or not maybe subjected to it.
Suppose it's a sad fact of life.

Today, it has been lovely, cold but nice. We saw the hills over the bay. They were covered in snow and with the tide in and the sun shining, they looked beautiful. Guess where my camera was?
Correct..... at home. Could have taken some really good photographs.

I have a good few days off now. I want to knit a scarf but niece still has my needles. Would like a go on sewing machine. I bought some more material today. I really hope I will be able to make a nice top from it! With going shopping, not a lot of time left today and I don't want to rush it. So I have just messed about on the computer and read some of my book. Written by Freda Lightfoot. I do like her books.

Take care. From Anne.

Rhubarb and Custard?!?

These two little bottles of "shots" have been living in my kitchen since New Year's Eve. I did try one of each. Rhubarb and custard?? Who would have thought? The other one was strawberry.

I thought of selling them on Ebay, maybe would get a lot of money for them.

I mean, some people buy all sorts of stuff don't they? Tried to give them back to the chap that brought them, no luck there though. May give them to my great niece. She says she quite likes them.

Oh dear.

Today, poor George is extremely ill.

I wonder, how many of you have said, "Well it's his own fault"? How many have sympathy?
As I see it, and this is my opinion, it's not George's fault. It is an illness. Not easy to beat. Lots of people have beaten it I know.

Lots of people have given up drugs, cigarettes and other things. Good for them. I think they have had great will-power. They have fought their personal battle and won, I hope forever.

But then there are some of us that aren't as disciplined and do not have the will-power.  I smoke ciggies. Tried to stop, had help. Not determined enough. Or is that just MY excuse?

Unless you have had a habit you cannot break, you cannot to judge. Like anything else, it's so easy to slip into things. You know it's bad for you, you know you shouldn't do it. You know you should stop or cut down.

You only live once so please don't start smoking, drug taking and only drink in moderation.

I am not nagging. But when you get to my age, you will wish you had never started, (in my case,) smoking.

Honest!

Well, what a week or two!!!! Decided to reformat the computer. Since then, things seem to have gone wrong.....

With going to work I haven't had much time to mess about with the said computer. Those nice people at Microsoft are sending me a CdRom, and that should sort things out. Updating this machine. Then I should be on a roll!!!

Weather not good is it? Not in jolly old Britain anyway. Roll on summer.

Monday.

Wot a cool and wet Monday! At least I am not going to work.

Sometimes, I wish I lived in a nice and warm country, one that is warm all the year round. But then I would have nothing to complain about. Well, I would, but not about the weather. I am sure I would still complain about something. In fact, I know I would.

I would be bored if there was NOTHING to complain about.

There's a thought, is there anyone who never complains?  And if they don't, why? Surely everyone has a complaint, however small?  Surely????? Am I right?

Bet you, that in summer, I will complain it is too hot. I will complain about the shops over the Christmas period. The clocks changing. Seems a major task in our house, so many things to change. Always forget about changing one thing. Usually, the one in the car. Thank you, "Computer of mine" for doing it automatically! I will possibly complain about the fireworks, not the ones on 5th Nov, the ones that go off, before and after!

Yes, you could say I make a hobby of complaining. But only to you and my long suffering "other" half.

Regional Sayings / Regional Names.

Just a Few Random Thoughts.
We were chatting a while back, my sister and I, about sayings.

One of them and I had never heard of this, “It looks black over Will’s mother’s.” Presumably, that means it looks as it will rain!
Maybe because of the dark clouds over someone’s house.
Yes, Will’s mum’s house!
I have heard “Well, I go to the foot of our stairs,” and “You could blow me down with a feather.” That I suppose is showing astonishment.
We remembered a few, some we couldn’t finish off. I have forgotten them now.

There must be many sayings from different regions and countries. Some, going back, years. From our grandparents’ time and some of you, your great –grandparents’.
An alley way, so many different words for that too.
Seems a shame to forget these words and sayings I suppose. Part of our past, and unless we pass them on, they will be no more!
Hey, shall we make a list?
