Robert W. Service.
I had never heard of Robert Service until an e-mail friend told me he had lived in Preston, UK. (Robert, not my friend.) Preston not being very far from where we live.
He was a writer and a poet. Born in Scotland and went to live in Canada at the age of 21.
He wrote about the things he observed. He died in 1958. September 11th. He would have been about 84.

Monday night on TV.
I love Monday nights on TV at the moment. Ok, ok, I have admitted to being sad many a time. lol
Tonight, we start with Emmerdale, then on to Corrie, what will the devil David get up to this time? Then a quick switch over to Eastenders. Then back to Corrie.
I cheer the goodies and boo the baddies. Max, just leave Stacey alone you rat. Sean/Shaun, keep your nose out of it please. Eileen and Gail, wonderful................ Will Norris ask that Doreen to marry him? Where are Ken and Deidre?
Quick break for making a light supper and then it's the wonderful Martin Clunes in Doc Martin. I love everyone in that programme. I must tell you all now, Monday night is hard going for me, all this tv watching but I manage ok. But they do keep my mind off the cigs. A month now and still getting craves. Fed up with them. Ahh well. 
Had my 'flu jab today. Hope all you ladies and gents over 65 have booked theirs? People with asthma and COPD and such, go on, it didn't hurt.

Cartoons. News. Lost son. Or is he? Update.
Oh dear, when they stopped printing the Garfield cartoon in the paper I was upset. I love that cat. Thank you Jim Davis. (I think.) But now I am quite fond of Calvin and Hobbs. In fact, getting very fond of them indeed.
Pleased to hear Russell is on the mend after his op. I am sure many of us are thinking about him and wishing him the best.
I'm sure that we are thinking about the poor Californians too. Golly, it must be devastating and frightening. I whinge about our English weather and I know about the floods in summer, but here, where we live, we are quite lucky. 
Maddy, well bless her, no nearer are they? That must be a nightmare. Ok, no "must be," it is a nightmare.

Day 27 and not one cig. Oh yes, I could nicely smoke one right now but not going to. If I keep this up and let me say, I really want to, what on earth can I have as my New Year's resolution? (It's rapidly on its way.)

Nearly Three Weeks.
Tomorrow night I will have not had a cig for 3 weeks. I don't really want one either, but and this sounds strange but I still get little craves now and then. Nothing I can't handle. On Sunday, it will be a year since I started to try and give up. Yes, I am slow.
Three weeks ago I had some cigs and smoked the lot although they made me feel ill. Not that I advocate it but it did me good. The sickly feeling lasted for ages, still have it a bit. Trying barley sugar sweets now!
It's getting colder isn't it? My pen friends are e-mailing me with stories of hot weather and droughts. Soon be 
Christmas, then New Year, lol, the Easter and that will bring Spring and then summer. I can't wait. We deserve a good summer in 2008.
Himdownstairs and me have celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary this week. Some wives might get flowers, I got a share of 3 fence panels! Mind you, I didn't get him anything either.
Work tomorrow. First time this week. I like it. (Not work.) Just the going once a week.

Marty Wilde and Laura Ingalls-Wilder and Youtube.
Two different things eh?
Last night himdownstairs and me went to see Marty Wilde and the Wildcats. Took us back to our youth.
Marty was wonderful. I wonder how old he is now? Bet he has his bus pass! But the energy of the man. He has been going for over 50 years would you believe? I am sure the Wildcats are all younger than that. If you are too young to remember him, maybe you remember his daughter, Kim. If you don't remember her, there is no hope for you. lol The audience were not young, there were of course some young people. But I bet the majority remembers Marty when he was on "The Six Five Special." I kinda missed that, I was more into "Oh Boy."
When son was here he was watching Youtube. www.youtube.com I keep looking at it and watching some of my favourite singers. But looked up, "Little House on the Prairie." I loved that programme and believe it or not, it still makes me cry. I even found the first episode ever and that lasted 30 odd mins. Good stuff. "The Waltons" here I come.
So Elder Son of mine. Thank you. I suppose you all realise that it takes me much longer than other people to cotton on to things? I maybe slow but in the end, I get there. lol

Singer Sewing Machine. / Cigs.
I think I have mentioned my sewing machine on here before. Anyway, I am not any better sewing anything on it as I was the day I got it! I have some material I bought last year to make a skirt........It is still in the bag I got it in. I can't find anywhere that can teach me to sew. I am not a natural machinist, so really need help. There are lessons to be found locally in patchworking, but I had grand ideas of skirts, tops and maybe a simple dress.
I am on day 11 of not smoking today. Thought I would just fling that in! I just love being modest.
My sister is in France, the warm part and it's raining. My heart bleeds. lol Seriously, she hasn't been well since she flew back after our crisis. She says she feels better now though but a bit washed out.
Worked the late shift yesterday. And maybe, at a push, another shift on Sunday. Don't know yet. Going to a concert on Saturday. Wot a thrilling life I lead. Please don't be jealous.

Weather, cigs and me.
Maybe I am, selfish that is. But I am fed up. Feel like crying. Need a bit of excitement in my life. Is my low mood due to, a/ stopping smoking? b/ no work at the moment. c/ it's going to be a long winter. I don't know. Just hope it passes soon.
It's not that far off Christmas, that will get me down. Not that I dislike it. I do think it starts too early in the shops etc. I know I am not alone in that. Loads of people think the same. The sound of "Jingle Bells" tend to drive you round the bend at times. I would just hate to work in a store that plays the music all the time. Ok, call me Mrs Scrooge if you want to.
I am not fond of being cold either. Hate snow and ice. Frightened of heavy winds too. In this part of old England we have little or no snow for the past two years. Will it keep away from me this winter too? I think it would be too good to be true if it did.
Ahhh well, happy week to you all.

About cigarettes.... again.
Well, actually, it's about the lack of cigarettes. Nearly a week without and it's been my best quit yet. Just hope it continues.
I am saving money, I don't feel as sick as I did. Oh, those cigs I had last week! Ahhh. I can understand the first one tasting ok but why did I carry on, even when they made me feel ill?
THEN,
why did I buy 10 more? I just can't fathom it out.
Maybe as I have said before, it did me good in a strange sort of way. I don't think of them all the time, I don't want one now. I think those 20 really put me off. Maybe now I will never smoke again.
I really hope so.

The cigs.
I have nearly finished day 3 of not smoking. (AGAIN.) But happy, happy, the thought of having a cig now makes me feel ill.
I know Champix can make you feel nauseous, surely that should be at the beginning of the treatment? I have felt like this since I had those cigs last week. Nothing major though.
I find that now I am not thinking of cigs all the time. I suppose I mean I don't feel as if something is missing from my life like I used to do. Good. Hopefully this time I am winning. I have saved a few bob with not smoking. I know for sure that I couldn't afford my old 20 a day habit any more. Fingers crossed, this time I can do it.
