No chocolate left.

Ok, call me greedy but I haven't any chocolate left. None. Ahhhhh. Will get some tomorrow though. Now, is some chocolate good for you? They say dark chocolate is better than milk choc. I, of course love the milk choc.

Nearly gone 24 days without a cig, so a girl has to have some comfort doesn't she? Mind you, I won't be able to fit in my favourite denim skirt if I keep troughing the stuff. Can't give up everything at once.

No work this week, well not up to now and not until Sunday. I suppose, what I mean is, I know I am going Sunday, have known for a while but no extra phone calls from work asking me to go in. I can't really go this week, too much going on. Just wish I could say it was really nice and exciting stuff but it ain't.

Well, 3 weeks nearly.

Well, nearly done 3 weeks without a cig. Long live Champix. Of course I have to take some credit as willpower is part of it too. So I take a bow, or should it be a curtsey?

Really, shouldn't be too clever yet. Have failed in the past and I really don't want to this time. It's easy to say "Well you shouldn't then," but cigs are addictive and hard to give up. Yes some people do well, find it so easy. I am not one of them though. Just pleased that I don't do drugs or drink. I know you could say that nicotine is a drug. I only have to battle with this one vice.

It's been raining in the northwest. Stopped now though. Not very warm either.

No plans for this weekend so won't be able to thrill you with tales of hair raising stories. No parties or anything remotely interesting. I have even done the ironing, so not even that to look forward to. lol

Hope you all have a good weekend. anne. x

Cigarettes.

2c43925aa1c6d073e1f71c2fcc50e915.jpgI had been smoking cigs for years. But today I am on day 18 of giving up. Not had a smoke for all those days. A small step I suppose, but to me, it's quite huge.

Tomorrow I go to see the NHS Stop Smoking Lady. She will be rather pleased. I fully expected to be the only person to be expelled from it.

I still yearn for a quick cig at times. Now yesterday was good but today has not been as good. The thing is, I haven't bought any. Saved a £ or two there.

I am getting help and support from.... www.stayquit.co.uk It's good and there are people from Australia, USA and South Africa so it's not just for our country.

Then there is.... http://whyquit.com

It is quite hard to give them up. I would dearly love to smoke about 3 a day. But, I know it would get to more than that in the end. Last night I went on YouTube, looked for the great, late Dave Allen, found him and there is a thing about stopping smoking. It was exellent and funny. Dave stopped smoking in the later years of his life. I was glued though to the drink on the side of his chair. Kept thinking it would fall off.

See yer, anne. x

What a wonderful day that was.
First time I had actually seen both our sons in suits. If I hadn't have known better I'd have thought they were appearing in court. lol
Granddaughter lovely as chief bridesmaid. Even himdownstairs and me scrubbed up well.

Strange but.....Pleasanton. Ca

Quite strange, or is it? No answer or anything from my half-brother Vic. I wrote him a letter on this site a little while ago. I wondered if anyone might have read it put two and two together and replied. No, perhaps no one has, perhaps they have and think tough, keep out of my life!

Ok, I can live with that. I still think it was worth a try. Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that. Shame though.

Pleasanton. Anyone know that place? Sounds nice but is it? It looks a pleasant place from the pics I have seen on the Internet.

Elvis and C & W.

I am turning into my Dad with my music tastes. lol

He never knew what Elvis was singing about, then in the '70's, agreed that Elvis was a lot better than the singers of that era. So it goes.

Rap, well to me, it's ok but doesn't seem to have a chorus that everyone can join in! In my teens I could have named all the Top Ten and maybe, on a good week, the Top Twenty. But now, I only know a few singers / groups. A lot I have never heard of.

But Granddaughter and friends like this music. I bet when they become mums and dads, they will wonder what their childrens Pop Idols are singing about. Maybe it will all turn round and '30's music will be the thing.

I have lived through, Bing, Guy, Bill, Elvis, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Punk, Heavy Metal, Glam Rock. Think I lost a few years then and now, Eminem and boy groups, girl groups and such. Never found out what Garage music was.

Not to worry, I like Country and Western.

Memories.

86c9fc43e53bf2a2adb033a3f9b7d2ed.jpgDad had a motorbike and sidecar. We must have travelled miles in it. (The sidecar I mean.)

Yesterday, in Morecambe there it was. Not the same one but it brought back memories. Sister and I, me in the front and her in the back, Mum on the pillion.

Also, it was the Bradford to Morecambe Vintage Car Rally. On the prom there were cars of all ages.

Gosh, some of them brought back memories too. That Ford Anglia, as seen in "Heartbeat," well it looked quite small now. But when my elder son was a baby, we thought it was the bees knees.

Then a plane flew over the bay, looked like an old plane. I tried hard to catch it on photo as the thing was going so fast! Anyway, this is one of the snaps I got.

Smoking.

I have no nicotine in my body, I thought it took 72 hours to go but no, it's 48 hours. Well, that's what I read last night.

Four days quit now, nearly anyway. But why, please tell me why, when I am trying to keep calm and happy, himdownstairs decides to be a bit bolshie? Suppose it's a man thing eh?

Weather dry but not as warm as yesterday. Elder son arrives tomorrow for a few days visit. Work on Saturday, it means I miss the England soccer match but I think I can just about deal with that!

No one on Messenger, no one has sent me an e-mail. Woe is me. Things can only get better!

Smoking.

The NHS Stop Smoking clinic is great. So is www.quitsmoking.co.uk  Plenty of support on there, even for a loser like me.

You can rant and rave and find people who have gone through the same sort of moods and emotions.

Another site is http://whyquit.com both sites worth a try.

I am happily on day 3 now and soon the nicotine will be out of my body.

Hey ho.

Not long before I go to work. Set off in about half an hour. It's a wet and miserable day and himdownstairs is watching footie. Good day to work I suppose. I would cry if the sun was shining and it was lovely and warm.

A silly statement from someone who lives in the northwest of England. Still, seeing we got hot weather in April, September might not be too bad.

Have a lovely Sunday.a84a6e693679221eec400a12d7d0dd92.jpg

I am on day one yet again on giving up the cigs. Wish me luck please. lol I know, it's will power I need. I will beat this stupid addiction!668954f707c5b0e462f7b34c22f6b39d.jpg

Reading.

At the moment I am in the middle of a book by Mandasue Heller. She writes in the same vein as Martina Cole. I think I have read all Martina's except the new one I saw the other day.

Josephine Cox, now surely she should be due another book out too. Lyn Andrews too.

I have read all of Catherine Cookson's books and sadly, there will be no more.

I would like read Uncle Tom's Cabin. I remember reading John Halifax, Gentleman. That was a childrens classic. I wonder if they still have them?? A list of the classics, not the books.

Little Women, Heidi, What Katy Did, Black Beauty and many others.

Noticed in the paper that they are or might bring back The Eagle comic. They mentioned Girl and Girls Friend, I liked that one best if I can remember all those years ago. Suppose they will have to update them so they will appeal to todays girls and boys.
